Standing at 5,895 metres high - Kilimanjaro remains one of the world's great adventures. It's a real challenge - and one that many choose to link with fundraising for a special cause that's close to their heart, and make their Kilimanjaro climb count - often by helping others who face even greater challenges in life. Because summiting Kilimanjaro is tough, and requires training and commitment to succeed - the fundraising potential from taking on a Kilimanjaro climb is huge - and many of our adventurers raise thousands of pounds for their chosen charity.

Action Challenge deals with 400+ charities - and over the past 19 years our UK & overseas events have helped raise more than £70 million for good causes, and we understand all aspects of fundraising - and how to make it all work for charities and participants. All of our Kilimanjaro Group Climbs - covering a wide range of route options & departure dates - have 'Charity Fundraising' as one of the ways that you can sign-up and join a bunch of like-minded people on an unforgettable adventure.

We deal with hundreds of UK charities. So - more or less any UK Charity of your choice is available - and we would get in touch with them if they are new to our list. The fundraising process is generally linked to online donation pages such as JustGiving.

Overseas charities are also often OK - as long as the charity involved is happy with the details of the arrangements with us and you - and alternative donation mechanisms may be required as JustGiving etc generally cover UK charities .

There are 3 ways that you can join one of our Kilimanjaro Group Challenges - each one can be linked to fundraising for a charity of your choice. You select which one suits you - and confirm that on your registration form - along with details of the charity.

SELF-FUNDING - You pay the full cost of the Kilimanjaro trip - with an initial deposit at the time of registration - and the balance 10 weeks prior to departure. You can then fundraise for any charity if you wish - without any involvement from us, as there are no formal arrangements. Let the charity know - and fundraise whatever you can (no official 'target'). With this option - none of the sponsorship money can be used to pay for the trip costs.

MINIMUM SPONSORSHIP FOR CHARITY - the main agreed option in place with our charity partners. You pay an initial deposit when you sign-up. This model then covers the balance of the Kilimanjaro trip cost (which is the same as the 'Self-Funding' outlined above) by you fundraising at least an agreed 'minimum sponsorship' amount for the charity you choose - and then out of that fundraising the charity pays the balance of your Kilimanjaro trip cost to us - and the charity keeps the remainder for their fantastic work. The 'maths' of this option mean that your minimum fundraising target will always be approx double the balance of the Kilimanjaro trip cost - and equally therefore the charity will always receive a sum at least equivalent to that balance of the Kilimanjaro trip cost for their work. All charities are happy with this - and agree to the arrangement in advance. 80% of the minimum target is due 12 weeks prior to departure - and the remaining 20% before your departure.

MIXED FUNDING FOR CHARITY - this option is a MIX of the above 2. Again - you pay an initial deposit when you register. You then also pay 50% of the balance of the Kilimanjaro trip cost to us by 10 weeks prior to departure. You also agree to fundraise an amount for the charity of your choice (a lower figure than the with the 'Minimum Sponsorship' option above) - and out of that fundraising the charity pays for the remaining 50% of the balance of your Kilimanjaro trip cost to us. So ideal if you want to pay some yourself - and still fundraise a good amount for charity. All charities are happy with this arrangement - and it's agreed in advance.

High fundraising targets may appear daunting. - and indeed is very much part of the overall 'challenge'. The key for success is to start early - and set out a detailed plan of your fundraising ideas - and identify channels that are likely to work. The charity that you choose will be very keen to help you - as they want to see you succeed - and will support you with fundraising packs - including lists of their own tips & ideas - and often with access to their advisors to bounce things off. Kilimanjaro is a tough challenge - make sure your friends, family and colleagues know that - and that you are doing it for a great cause, and one you believe in - then you' l find that the target soon shrinks to become more than achievable - and that fundraising becomes very rewarding in itself!

If you are looking to arrange a Bespoke - Private Kilimanjaro Trip - the climb can be linked to fundraising for a charity chosen by the group. We will be more than happy to sort the details out with your charity - or if they are new to us, to make all the arrangements so as it works for all parties involved. We've done this for many groups so please get in touch with us if this might fit with your plans.
